The short version
Budget Analyzer is built to know as little about you as possible. In offline mode (no account), your bank statements are processed entirely in your browser and stored only on your device — we never receive them. If you create an account, the data you choose to sync is stored encrypted with our database provider so you can access it across devices. Usage analytics run only if you say yes to them.
Offline mode (no account)
Statements you upload are parsed by code running in your browser. The resulting transactions, categories, budgets, and rules are saved in your browser's local storage on your device. None of it is transmitted to us or anyone else. Clearing your browser data (or using the app's "Clear All Data" button) removes it permanently.
Cloud accounts
If you create an account, we store: your email address, your transactions and their categories, your budget months, budgets, categorization rules, and uploaded-file metadata. This data lives in our database hosted by Supabase (on AWS, in the United States) and is used solely to provide the product — syncing your budget across devices and powering features you invoke, like the AI assistant. We never sell your data or share it with advertisers.
The AI assistant answers your questions by querying your transaction data and sending relevant excerpts, with your question, to OpenAI for processing. Excerpts are used only to generate the answer to your question.
When paid subscriptions are available, payments are processed by Stripe; we never see your card number. Stripe's own privacy policy applies to payment processing.
Analytics & cookies
With your consent, we use Mixpanel to collect anonymous usage events — things like "uploaded a file" or "opened the assistant" — to understand which features help people. Events never include the contents of your statements, transactions, or messages. Analytics is off by default and only starts if you accept it in the cookie banner. We honor the Global Privacy Control browser signal as a decline.
Strictly necessary storage (your session, your preferences, and your offline data) doesn't require consent because the app can't work without it.
Your rights
You can access, export, correct, or delete your data at any time: offline data is under your direct control on your device; account data can be deleted by deleting your data in the app or emailing us for full account deletion. Depending on where you live (GDPR in the EU/UK, CCPA/CPRA in California, and similar state laws), you may have additional rights to access, portability, correction, deletion, and opt-out of "sale or sharing" — we don't sell or share your data as those laws define it, and we honor Global Privacy Control.
